
Prior Authorization Technician – Pharmacy Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver patient care by eliminating obstacles to medication access.
• Collaborate with insurance companies and clinical offices to secure medication approvals through prior authorizations.
• Offer phone support to patients by navigating pharmacy dispensing systems to process claims, refill prescriptions, and enhance patient adherence.
• Communicate directly with insurance providers to facilitate medication approvals.
• Utilize pharmacy operating systems to enter data, adjudicate test claims, and develop follow-up action plans.
• Effectively convey information across databases, electronic medical records, and emails to document patient issues, prior authorization statuses, and financial assistance requirements.
• Review prescriptions with medical offices to ensure optimal patient care.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of patient interactions.
• Assist patients in managing their pharmacy insurance claims.
• Collaborate closely with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons to deliver a cohesive approach to quality patient care.
• Communicate directly with patients via phone to support them in all facets of medication compliance.
• Research and analyze information to empower strategic decision-making by others.
• Manage, organize, and update pertinent data using database applications.
• Apply insights and recommendations to operational challenges, enhancing productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
• Identify trends, address issues, recommend enhancements, and implement changes.
• Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a value-added business partner to stakeholders across the organization.
• Safeguard the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of information.
• Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional literature, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Minimal in-state or out-of-state travel may be required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• State registration or certification as a pharmacy technician is required.
• National certification as a CPhT or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
