Principal Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supporting, managing, and overseeing transmission and distribution projects in both Power and Renewable sectors.

• Designing and/or coordinating High Voltage (69kV-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD software.

• Developing the team while serving as the primary client-facing Subject Matter Expert (SME).

• Facilitating collaboration among various disciplines and project team members.

• Serving as the client contact to define project scope and comprehend client requirements.

• Creating final construction documents and ensuring quality control along with compliance with client specifications.

• Coordinating specific design elements of projects, estimating construction costs, and specifying materials.

• Frequently participating in internal training presentations, mentoring junior engineers, assisting with proposal bids, and enhancing internal design standards and processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

• At least 20 years of relevant experience in transmission line engineering is preferred.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE is essential, with the ability to train others.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in all facets of transmission line design and project types, including line routing, engineering and design, construction, structural analysis, and clearance analysis.

• Previous experience working with or for a Utility is necessary.

• A proven history of fostering positive client relationships.

• Actively manages personal workload effectively.

• Demonstrates strong leadership in training and mentoring team members.

• Responsible for reviewing project drawings, calculations, and specifications.

• Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills are required.

• Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients, and external agencies.

• Experience as an industry subject matter expert, including participation in industry committees and/or conference presentations, is preferred.

• Proven experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is preferred.

• Proficiency in MFAD/LPILE is preferred.

• Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
