Principal Systems Software Engineer – Observability and Telemetry Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and support operational and reliability features of a large-scale Observability & Telemetry collection platform, emphasizing performance at scale, real-time monitoring, logging, and alerting.

• Participate in and enhance the entire lifecycle of services—from conception and design to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.

• Assist in service readiness prior to launch through activities such as system design consulting, development of software tools, platforms, and frameworks, capacity management, and launch assessments.

• Ensure the ongoing maintenance of services post-launch by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.

• Sustainably scale systems using methods like automation and advocate for enhancements that improve reliability and speed.

• Implement sustainable incident response strategies and conduct blameless postmortems.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for production systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline involving coding (such as physics or mathematics), or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 15 years of expertise in infrastructure automation and distributed systems design, with experience in creating and developing tools for managing large-scale private or public cloud systems in production.

• More than 8 years of experience in delivering foundational infrastructure and observability platforms.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.

• Extensive knowledge of Linux, Networking, and Containers.
