Principal Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with sales teams, channel partners, and key customers to navigate complex opportunities from initial discovery to design, validation, competitive positioning, and closure.

• Manage high-value vertical and enterprise opportunities through meticulous tracking, executive involvement, technical differentiation, and revenue generation.

• Deliver advanced pre-sales support by providing solution architecture, network design, proof-of-concept execution, technical demonstrations, and business value positioning for customers.

• Act as a subject matter expert for the RUCKUS portfolio, which includes wireless, wired, software, cloud, controller, and edge-networking solutions.

• Concentrate on RUCKUS One adoption, product maturity, migrations, and ensuring customer success.

• Oversee field validation of new platforms, environments, large-scale deployments, and migration initiatives.

• Convert customer and field requirements into actionable product feedback, feature requests, defect reports, technical guidance, and quality enhancements.

• Collaborate with PLM, Engineering, QA, TAC, TME, and field teams to address field-discovered issues and enhance feature readiness.

• Foster organizational capability through the development of reusable labs, demo programs, onboarding support, mentoring, and scalable enablement resources.

• Assist technical alliance initiatives through the creation of solution guides, interoperability validation, and collaborative feature-maturity efforts with third-party ecosystem partners.

• Provide field leadership through PRD/HLD reviews, interlocks, prioritization, summary materials, and follow-up deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of pre-sales engineering, enterprise account strategy, partner engagement, and managing complex, high-value opportunities.

• Proficient in presenting technical solutions, competitive positioning, and business value to executives, technical audiences, partners, and internal stakeholders.

• Skilled in translating customer business drivers into network architectures, migration strategies, product requirements, and scalable field guidance.

• Strong technical expertise in 802.11 a/g/n/ac/ax/be wireless design, RF engineering, troubleshooting, optimization, IP routing and switching, WAN/LAN design, security authentication, RADIUS/AAA, virtualization, and cloud environments.

• Familiarity with automation, AI/ML-adjacent technologies, GitHub-based collaboration, scripting, and operational tools.

• Proven experience in influencing product quality and roadmap outcomes through bug reporting, feature requests, customer-impact analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Experience in creating hands-on labs, advanced training programs, webinars, technical guides, migration playbooks, demo scripts, and repeatable solution documentation.

• Bachelor's Degree and over 10 years of relevant experience in IP networking, wireless technologies, pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, product enablement, or equivalent technical leadership roles.

• Demonstrated success in supporting major customer opportunities, tracking pipelines, engaging executives, and contributing to revenue across strategic vertical markets.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to customers, partners, and products, including escalation analysis, defect documentation, reproduction support, and impact mitigation.

• Strong technical presentation and enablement capabilities, including conducting demos, participating in conferences, providing field training, hosting webinars, enabling partners, and delivering executive briefings.

• Excellent documentation skills, including creating solution guides, summary decks, product feedback, and sharing field best practices.

• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time based on business requirements.

• Preferred: experience in supporting MDU, hospitality, education, public sector, service provider, enterprise, manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environments.

• Preferred: knowledge of OT environments in manufacturing and hospitality sectors.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with RUCKUS One, SmartZone-to-RUCKUS One migrations, cloud-managed networking, product readiness, customer adoption, and field-led maturity efforts.

• Preferred: experience in validating emerging architectures, including large-scale AP deployments, edge networking, cloud-managed services, and migrations.

• Preferred: experience with technical alliance partners and ecosystem tools for wireless design, simulation, security integration, network planning, and operational validation.

• Preferred: experience with automation assets, scripts, repositories, and operational tools.

• Preferred: CWNP or other relevant network certifications.
