Principal, Strategic Planning & Operations – Corporate Strategy

📋 Description

• Oversee Myriad’s 5-year project roadmap planning process, including the development of templates, coordination with contributors, and establishing check-in timelines. Manage the evaluation of opportunities and portfolio as part of the annual 5-year roadmap planning, incorporating financial modeling.

• Integrate data from Market Intelligence, Product Strategy, Operations, Project Management, Technology, R&D, Finance, and Data Analytics teams.

• Create concise, executive-ready presentations and materials for discussions with senior leadership and the board.

• Convert financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.

• Take ownership of ongoing governance and follow-up regarding long-term plans, including documentation of decisions and tracking progress.

• Lead and manage comprehensive strategic assessment cycles across the company for future visioning, ensuring that execution rhythm, content preparation, and milestone achievements are met.

• Drive enterprise-wide future visioning initiatives by leading and supporting strategic assessments and exploring market opportunities related to genomic testing, precision medicine, healthcare delivery, AI-enabled diagnostics, and patient-centric healthcare models.

• Establish and implement processes to ensure alignment of functional team priorities with enterprise strategy, initiatives, and goals.

• Facilitate decision-making processes that require negotiation and influence across various stakeholder groups, including R&D, Operations, Commercial, Business Development, Digital, and Project Management.

• Collaborate with R&D, Product Strategy, and Commercial leaders to assess investments within Myriad’s innovation portfolio, balancing scientific opportunity, clinical utility, market demand, reimbursement possibilities, and financial returns.

• Integrate and influence strategic inputs into the enterprise long-range strategy and planning:

• Develop commercial strategies considering provider, patient, and customer experiences, access, ordering efficiency, and testing utilization.

• Explore expansion opportunities through partnerships, licensing, collaborations within ecosystems, and strategies for market entry.

• Stay informed on emerging technologies and scientific breakthroughs.

• Support long-range functional strategies (e.g., R&D, product development) through portfolio evaluation and prioritization frameworks.

• Identify methods to collect and report commercial, operational, customer, and market data to track progress against enterprise objectives.

• Develop and maintain planning and evaluation templates, workflows, dashboards, and communication processes.

• Prepare strategic materials for executive-level discussions, including board updates.

• Assist in executive operations and ensure alignment within the executive leadership team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Life Sciences, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; an MBA or advanced scientific degree is preferred.

• 15 years of professional experience, including over 12 years of increasing responsibility in corporate strategy, planning, project management, program management, or consulting roles.

• Preferred background & experience:

• 5–8 years in management consulting.

• 5–10 years in biotech, molecular diagnostics, oncology, and/or precision medicine.

• Background in drug discovery and development, pharmaceutical strategy, or digital health may also be beneficial.

• Proven experience in developing high-level long-range financial models.

• Expertise in building and managing enterprise strategic planning processes.

• Demonstrated capability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives at an enterprise level.

• Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and visual) and the ability to synthesize information at an executive level.

• Experience presenting directly to CEOs and boards.

• Led governance related to portfolio prioritization and investment decisions.

• Proven ability to influence senior leaders across multiple functions.

• Knowledge of regulatory, reimbursement, and clinical workflows pertinent to laboratory testing.
