Principal Software Engineer – Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create scalable services that connect on-premises or cloud infrastructure to Akamai Connected Cloud.

• Contribute to cloud computing products that support AI and general compute on both ARM and x86 workloads.

• Design and enhance high-density ARM64 compute platform functionalities and hypervisor layers across Akamai Connected Cloud.

• Develop, implement, review, document, and test high-quality code in close collaboration with the team.

• Drive technical strategy for hardware enablement, cross-platform build pipelines, and optimization of workload performance.

• Collaborate with global teams to develop new compute features and resolve low-level software bugs.

• Provide both organizational and functional leadership to a team of engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Proven track record of helping team members excel, enhance their skills, and advance to greater responsibilities.

• Extensive knowledge of ARM64 / AArch64 and x86_64 server platforms.

• Experience with cross-compilation toolchains, system profiling, and deploying software across multiple architectures.

• Familiarity with cloud compute virtualization technologies such as KVM and QEMU.

• Knowledge of container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.

• Experience in technical design, product specification reviews, project management, and backlog planning.

• Ability to work effectively to collaboratively identify and resolve issues in a transparent manner.
