Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Become a member of a product team focused on software design, development, and the complete product lifecycle for store selling systems.

• Collaborate and partner with UX, engineering, and product management to develop secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions.

• Document, review, and uphold quality and change control standards.

• Write code and scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, test cases, and destructive testing.

• Develop dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Contribute to enterprise-level tools for destructive testing, automation, and engineering empowerment.

• Recognize product enhancements and areas with unsecured code, implementing necessary fixes.

• Identify, execute, and share technical solutions throughout the organization.

• Create reusable foundational code elements, architecture diagrams, and product documentation.

• Define Service Level Objectives and prioritize tasks related to reliability backlog.

• Address inquiries from product and support teams and provide production application support.

• Monitor production Service Level Objectives, along with performance and capacity.

• Collaborate with vendors and the open-source community to enhance features.

• Develop API specifications and contracts for shared data.

• Triage high-priority issues and outages.

• Lead and engage in communities of practice, learning and applying new technologies.

• Mentor and develop the skillsets of junior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years old.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the position.

• Proficiency in a modern programming language, with a preference for Java.

• Expertise in a modern web application framework such as Spring MVC and Quarkus.

• Experience in data engineering at scale.

• Strong skills in SQL and NoSQL data modeling.

• Familiarity with modern microservice-based architectures and methodologies, including Event Driven Design.

• Mastery of version control systems, preferably Git.

• Proficiency in Linux or Unix-based environments.

• Expertise in CI/CD toolchains.

• Proficiency in destructive testing methodologies and tools.

• Familiarity with a cloud computing platform and associated automation patterns.

• Competence in designing production systems, considering high availability, disaster recovery, performance, efficiency, and security.

• Knowledge of defensive coding practices and patterns for high availability.

• Understanding of design patterns.

• Experience in test-driven development and unit test creation.

• Proficiency in query optimization and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with the 12-factor methodology.

• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful web services.
