Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Actively engage in the development of essential platform features and components as an individual contributor.

• Take charge of the complete design and development process for scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performance healthcare software systems.

• Create and implement healthcare transaction-processing solutions that comply with EDI, HL7, and FHIR standards.

• Communicate the team’s priorities and expectations while ensuring that necessary resources are allocated.

• Take responsibility for the quality of features delivered by the team, including functional and non-functional requirements.

• Identify deficiencies in architectural patterns and encourage experimentation and innovation.

• Act as the main technical point of contact for executive stakeholders.

• Recognize and address technical risks.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to outline the project scope, evaluate feasibility, and convert business needs into technical solutions.

• Offer technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineering teams.

• Keep track of emerging healthcare technologies and trends, recommending appropriate solutions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent substantial industry experience.

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience within a software product organization.

• Significant experience in architecting, building, and delivering complex, high-performance SaaS solutions in cloud environments (AWS or similar), utilizing microservices and serverless architectures.

• More than 5 years of hands-on experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in developing healthcare transaction products.

• Strong expertise in FHIR and HL7 healthcare interoperability standards.

• Proficient in Java, C#, and Python (preferred).

• Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.

• Experience in mentoring and guiding engineering teams.

• Proficient in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience with Mirth Connect; fluency in Mirth is highly advantageous.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%, including overnight trips.
