Principal Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain solutions that enhance efficiency and streamline processes.

• Act as a subject matter expert and provide mentorship to team members.

• Promote code quality standards and offer strategic guidance on architectural choices.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish deployment standards and procedures.

• Revise documentation as necessary.

• Create, test, and design automation tools, including Bash scripts, Python applications, and Slack bots.

• Collaborate closely with network developers.

• Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud.

• Partner with support, operations, and engineering teams to analyze and resolve complex network-related issues.

• Take part in on-call rotations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps, working with large-scale distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing, and firewall concepts.

• Advanced skills with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar platforms.

• Proficiency in Linux networking at the userspace level.

• Familiarity with open-source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.

• Experience in application development, contributing to codebases, performing code reviews, and scripting with Python, Bash, Go, or Rust.

• Proficient with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar technologies.
