Principal Should Cost Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee cost modeling and benchmarking tasks that encompass intricate assemblies and components

• Leverage aPriori, internally developed regression models, and other emerging models

• Execute should costing and should cost modeling for both components and assemblies

• Convert engineering drawings and models into costed elements, including materials, labor, overhead, tooling, and logistics

• Formulate and sustain cost rollups and cost drivers at suitable levels of detail to aid negotiations

• Establish assumptions and cost-driver logic

• Utilize historical data to develop predictive models in situations where should-costing software is not accessible

• Validate and adjust models at proper intervals

• Provide training for new software or model users and assist in enhancing standard work processes

• Carry out should-cost evaluations on parts using aPriori

• Travel occasionally with Supply Chain managers, although minimal travel is anticipated

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience, or, in the absence of a degree, 12 years of pertinent experience

• Background in should costing or designing to cost

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings

• Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems

• Programming experience in VB, SQL, or Python is preferred

• Experience in aerospace/defense procurement or engineering is preferred

• Background with large data sets or data analytics is preferred

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory

• Capability to access information in accordance with the applicable program/contract
