This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• As a Principal Sales Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our sales team to conduct engaging, customer-focused meetings, demonstrations, and proof of concept sessions that highlight the business and technical advantages our solutions offer.
• This role provides an opportunity to apply your advanced technical and consultative abilities while utilizing your interpersonal skills to connect with customers throughout all stages of the pre-sales process.
• You will engage with customer teams ranging from C-level executives to developers, quickly grasping their technical requirements and how these align with their business objectives, in order to deliver insightful and innovative solutions that meet those needs.
• You will be involved in various pre-sales activities, including the planning, development, and delivery of conceptual solution demonstrations and presentations, providing technical and product guidance to customers, executing hands-on proof of concepts, and responding to RfXs.
• Collaborate with other team members, Product Management, and Product/Platform Engineering and Support to provide the necessary technical expertise to our prospects and customers.
• Lead or support team members in creating demonstrations of our solutions and platform capabilities.
• Foster a collaborative culture at Ping by assisting team members across different regions, ensuring collective success for the company.
• Ensure a seamless transition between teams when moving between pre-sales and post-sales phases.
• Act as the pre-sales lead for prospective opportunities, working with other Ping teams, partners, and Account Executives to convert prospects into customers.
• Travel requirements are 20-30%, primarily within the UK, with occasional travel across EMEA.
• Over 10 years of experience in a solution pre-sales role.
• Proficiency in Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions within enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with IAM-related protocols and formats, including OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, LDAP, JSON, XML, SQL, etc.
• Experience in the installation and configuration of one or more IAM technologies such as Ping Identity, CA, Oracle, IBM, Novell/NetIQ/Microfocus, or similar.
• Proven ability to act as a recognized leader, offering guidance and support to the extended Sales Engineering team and managing complex sales opportunities.
• Strong commercial consultative skills, with the capability to interact with diverse roles including architects, developers, managers, CTOs, and engineers.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other teams within Ping Identity.
• Skill in articulating proposed solution technical capabilities in relation to customer needs, in a narrative format.
• Competence in scripting languages (JavaScript, Groovy, etc.), RESTful Web Services, and web development frameworks such as Node.js and Vue.js.
• In-depth product and technical knowledge, with the capability to independently execute a Proof of Concept to successful completion.
• Proficiency in leading meetings across various personas, including C-Level executives, business owners, architects, and developers.
• Experience in developing and delivering technical presentations, workshops, customized demonstrations, and proof of concepts.
• Understanding of general networking concepts and technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, routing, load balancers, proxies, etc.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
