This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Transform the vision of the art team into deployable and scalable rendering technology.
• Create, develop, and sustain high-performance rendering backends with clear abstractions across PC, console, and Mac platforms.
• Analyze and mitigate significant GPU/CPU bottlenecks, including occupancy, tile memory pressure, indirect dispatch overhead, and bandwidth issues.
• Update pipelines with GPU-driven culling, indirect command buffers, and bindless architectures.
• Design concurrent GPU memory management leveraging modern API features and memory heaps.
• Extend major engines (including Unreal source) and custom C++ architectures.
• Represent the studio externally through white papers or by presenting at industry events.
• Proven experience in rendering or engine engineering, successfully shipping high-performance rendering systems for AAA, film/VFX, XR, or simulation across various products.
• Extensive knowledge of modern C++ and proficient in shader authoring and debugging (HLSL, MSL, or GLSL).
• Practical experience in shipping with at least two of the following: Metal, DirectX 12, Vulkan, or GNM/GNMX.
• Comprehensive understanding of the entire pipeline: rasterization, compute, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
• Proficiency in contemporary rendering techniques: PBR, GI, ambient occlusion, volumetrics, and post-processing (AA, HDR, tone mapping, motion blur), along with awareness of current GPU-driven pipelines, meshlet rendering, and real-time path tracing workflows.
• Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and make sound architectural decisions independently.
• Strong applied 3D mathematics skills, along with technical writing that engages other engineers.
• Bonus Points
• Hands-on experience with mesh shading pipelines (DX12, Vulkan, Metal) to enhance geometry processing and minimize CPU overhead.
• Familiarity with modern hardware variations, including console and Apple Silicon unified memory architectures.
• Experience in shipping ray tracing or heavily compute-driven rendering projects.
• Extensive modifications to Unreal Engine source.
• Flexible working arrangements: Remote-friendly long before it became standard, with core hours that accommodate both excellent work and personal life.
• Support & wellbeing: Access to mental health first-aiders, therapy, and coaching through Myndup, as well as private medical insurance to ensure you remain healthy and supported.
• Pension & life cover: A robust pension plan and life insurance to secure your future and safeguard your family.
