This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• You will be responsible for the fee and pricing mechanisms that determine the charges for Upstart's loan products, directly influencing what customers pay and what Upstart earns on every loan.
• Leveraging innovative competitive and customer insights, you will identify opportunities for fee and pricing enhancements and convert them into refined models and rules that ensure our rates remain competitive, equitable, transparent, and scalable.
• You will collaborate with ML, Risk, Legal/Compliance, Finance, and Engineering to establish the fee strategy and roadmap across various product lines, determining priorities and maintaining alignment as priorities evolve.
• Ultimately, your efforts will lead to customers experiencing fairer, more competitive fees while Upstart enhances its revenue and trust.
• 5-10 years of experience in a marketplace product management role, with a proven track record of successfully leading an engineering team to execute critical initiatives in pricing, monetization, matching, routing, and incentives.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all organizational levels, from C-suite executives to individual contributors.
• Skilled in managing and influencing others through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus-building.
• An academic background in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or Operations Research.
• Practical experience in pricing/revenue optimization, including elasticity modeling, revenue management, and brand impact feedback loops.
• Familiarity with operating in a regulated pricing environment, such as lending, insurance, or financial services.
• Experience in consumer lending, fintech, or capital markets products, with a solid understanding of how fee changes impact unit economics and investor/funding economics.
• Proficient in experiment design and analysis, with experience in drawing conclusions when live A/B testing is constrained (using offline simulation, quasi-experimental methods, and competitive benchmarking).
• A history of utilizing data/AI tools to uncover competitive or customer insights that have influenced pricing or fee strategies, rather than merely automating reporting.
• Strong experience in experiment design and analysis (A/B testing, offline simulations, and metrics-driven decision-making).
