Principal Product Manager, Configuration Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance the product strategy for Toast’s configuration platform, emphasizing:

• Developing systems that securely handle changes to essential business data, incorporating validation, versioning, auditability, and rollback capabilities at scale.

• Creating and refining a configuration platform suitable for SMBs, multi-unit operators, and Enterprise scenarios throughout the Toast experience.

• Investigating and integrating automation and AI-assisted ('agentic') workflows into the configuration and publishing processes.

• Establishing platform functionalities that empower other Toast teams to independently develop, test, and deploy configuration-driven features.

• Developing and managing a roadmap aligned with business OKRs, customer needs, and technical feasibility.

• Leading feature development from conception to launch—crafting clear specifications, collaborating with engineering and design teams, and evaluating success metrics.

• Collaborating with customer-facing teams and other development groups to gather insights and promote the product's value.

• In conjunction with engineering and design partners, guide a development team by providing clear direction, prioritizing tasks, and nurturing a culture focused on customer-centricity, innovation, and accountability.

• Advocate for the adoption of AI tools to expedite product discovery, simplify execution, and explore new product experiences—shaping our approach to product development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of product management experience, including substantial ownership of technical platforms or infrastructure products.

• Proven success in delivering user-facing features in dynamic environments.

• Experience with systems involving APIs, data models, or distributed architectures.

• Strong analytical skills—you leverage data to inform decisions and validate assumptions.

• A deep understanding of the restaurant industry and a commitment to enhancing their operational experiences.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence others without direct authority.
