Principal Product Designer – Retail

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish new interaction patterns for agentic AI — crafting how merchants engage with, guide, oversee, and cultivate trust in an intelligent agent acting on their behalf.

• Spearhead the design of our AI experience from start to finish as a hands-on individual contributor: from initial concept and prototype to refined, launched product, in close collaboration with AI engineering and product leadership.

• Elevate the quality of work across the organization through direct involvement — diving into any product area to investigate, enhance, and remove obstacles from critical projects, thereby strengthening teams in the process.

• Direct vision efforts that rethink foundational merchant experiences through practical exploration and prototyping — ambitious concept work that can influence strategy and is concrete enough to build upon.

• Prototype with AI on a daily basis: adopt an AI-first approach — utilizing modern tools to swiftly transition from intent to functioning prototype — and exemplify this working method for designers throughout the organization.

• Shape our mobile strategy through design thinking and hands-on assistance, serving as a continuous secondary focus.

• Influence key stakeholders without formal authority: bring together designers, leaders, and cross-functional partners across various teams through clarity, storytelling, and the inherent quality of the work.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of product design experience with a maker's mindset — seamlessly transitioning between strategic thinking and meticulous, polished execution.

• A portfolio showcasing outstanding hands-on craftsmanship across UX, interaction, and visual design — work that peers in the design community recognize.

• Proven experience leading substantial, ambiguous initiatives across multiple teams and achieving measurable results — without formal authority.

• Authentic fluency with AI: active engagement with LLMs and AI prototyping tools in your workflow, coupled with a strong perspective on designing AI-driven products.

• Sufficient technical knowledge to effectively collaborate with engineers — capable of building prototypes to convey ideas and consider constraints.

• The ability to sway senior stakeholders through clear communication, storytelling, and tangible design work.
