This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +9 more states.
• Design power utility substations adhering to relevant codes and client standards.
• Create general arrangements, equipment and electrical layouts, elevation views, cable trenches, grounding and conduit drawings, details, bills of materials, and AC/DC power systems.
• Develop ground grids utilizing applicable codes and industry software.
• Formulate lightning protection and grounding plans.
• Perform AC/DC load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
• Generate equipment and material specifications for procurement, design scopes, and cost estimates.
• Complete conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.
• Prepare supporting documentation for procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Lead and engage in client meetings and site visits.
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and review and approve engineering design packages.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Over 15 years of experience in substation physical design engineering.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organizational skills.
• Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
