Principal iOS Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop the Android and web experiences for the Aave App.

• Provide secure and user-friendly savings journeys for consumers across various platforms.

• Take ownership and advance the technical architecture of the Aave App on iOS.

• Design and implement blockchain features, such as wallet creation and connectivity, key management, transaction construction and signing, gas estimation, RPC interaction, on-chain reads, and account-abstraction flows.

• Integrate on-chain and off-chain data across savings, funding, withdrawal, bridge, vault, portfolio, notification, and analytics experiences.

• Establish quality standards for Swift and UIKit code, including testing, observability, performance, release safety, and incident response.

• Stay actively involved with foundational architecture, security-sensitive features, complex integrations, and critical production challenges.

• Collaborate with design teams for precise UI, refined interactions, accessibility, and a unified mobile design system.

• Mentor and guide iOS engineers, delegate responsibilities, offer feedback, and assist in hiring and team growth.

• Work closely with product, backend, iOS, protocol, security, and design teams.

• Manage the progression of features from technical design to release, contributing to the overall application architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building production iOS applications, with a background at the Principal, Lead, or similar level.

• Extensive expertise in Swift and UIKit.

• Comprehensive understanding of iOS architecture, concurrency, networking, navigation, application lifecycle, and native frameworks.

• Practical experience in integrating blockchain functionalities within an iOS application, including wallets, private keys, transaction signing, RPCs, gas, and on-chain transaction processes.

• Proven track record of establishing architectural direction for complex consumer applications.

• Experience in guiding engineers through ambiguous, high-impact projects, providing mentorship, conducting reviews, and fostering clear ownership within a team.

• Strong judgment regarding performance, testing strategies, observability, release safety, incident response, and production reliability.

• Capability to deliver polished, design-aligned consumer experiences while collaborating across product, design, backend, protocol, and security teams.

• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Familiarity with React Native, Android, and web technologies as referenced in the role description.
