This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee all facets of interconnection for generation projects, facilitating progress through the interconnection process to mitigate risks and enhance project value.
• Spearhead the preparation and coordination of generation interconnection requests to ensure submissions are thorough and precise.
• Supervise all external engineering consultants to guarantee timely delivery of all required outputs.
• Conduct quality control on engineering outputs to ensure accuracy and precision.
• Frequently engage with internal PMO, Project Finance, and Preconstruction teams to advance projects within the development pipeline.
• Support a seamless project transition process with the PMO and EPC team for mature projects.
• Offer engineering and technical oversight to the Development team for all utility and ISO interconnection application package preparations.
• Regularly communicate with Engineering team members and external consultants to gather all necessary data for utility interconnection studies.
• Evaluate engineering data from external suppliers (such as inverters, batteries, transformers, etc.) and collaborate with them to meet utility interconnection standards and requirements.
• Engage with external vendors for discussions regarding technology (such as inverters, batteries, etc.).
• Create, review, approve, and maintain drawing packages, energy production models, bills of materials, scopes of work, and other technical project documentation.
• Manage technical requirements throughout all stages of project development and design, including both conceptual and detailed system design deliverables, adhering to regulatory codes and stakeholder requirements, specify balance of systems, conduct site visits, and coordinate permitting needs.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to oversee structural, civil, and electrical engineering consultants, geotechnical and topographic surveyors, as well as other specialized professionals and suppliers as necessary.
• Assist in developing and reviewing project schedules, cost estimations, bills of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards, and supplier quotes.
• Provide suggestions for ongoing improvements in project designs, plans, and processes.
• Prepare conceptual designs for solar projects, including the selection of major components, equipment layouts, single-line diagrams, and more.
• Conduct energy generation modeling for solar projects using tools like PV Syst, PlantPredict, and others, including energy production and cost sensitivity analyses.
• Regular attendance, in accordance with the company's attendance policy and supervisory assignments, is a critical job duty for this position.
• Populate and maintain the project portfolio database.
• Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering (emphasizing Power Systems) or another related engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of professional engineering experience within the solar and/or BESS sector.
• Relevant experience in the interconnection, development, and/or design of power plants, particularly solar or BESS projects.
• Willingness to travel a minimum of 15% of the time.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (or a similar software).
• Experience with photovoltaic performance modeling tools, preferably PVSyst and/or PlantPredict.
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with project scheduling tools (such as MS Project or equivalent).
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Assertive, capable of handling pressure, and a collaborative team player.
• Prior experience managing projects from initial design through installation and execution is preferred.
