Principal HVDC Transmission Transformer Design Engineer – Electrical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance regarding FAT and on-site challenges.

• Engage in technical communication with clients and suppliers to present and discuss analyses.

• Assist the factory with design and material-related concerns.

• Facilitate design reviews ensuring adherence to design, quality, and manufacturing best practices.

• Recognize and mitigate specific design risks.

• Aid in the transition of designs to manufacturing processes.

• Confirm that design processes fulfill quality thresholds and necessary quality controls.

• Implement and oversee Design Quality Gates and Controls in accordance with internal guidelines.

• Evaluate quality data, establish corrective measures, and track enhancements.

• Identify and apply lessons learned in subsequent designs.

• Revise manufacturing capabilities and tolerances, ensuring incorporation into designs.

• Assist in the introduction of new designs into manufacturing.

• Guarantee the identification and execution of CTQs.

• Spearhead standardization and modularization initiatives.

• Investigate industry advancements and pinpoint solutions to perpetually enhance transformer designs.

• Report directly to the Site Leader.

• Provide support for HVDC transformer products contributing to the global green energy transition.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound technical expertise in transformer electrical (transmission) and mechanical design.

• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in transmission transformer manufacturing.

• Substantial experience in HVDC projects, typically acquired over 10 to 15 years.

• Proven background in FEA analysis.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in continuous improvement and quality processes.

• Strong understanding and experience related to site and FAT issues, RCA, DFMEA, testing, standardization, and modularization.

• Commitment to quality excellence with a focus on early risk identification and mitigation.
