This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Offer expert-level assistance on intricate fire safety issues and risk reduction strategies.
• Create engineering standards, design specifications, and best practices applicable company-wide.
• Lead and engage in national fire protection code and standards committees, providing technical insight related to fire and life safety codes in energy storage.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), fire marshals, insurers, and independent engineers on fire and life safety matters while utilizing 3rd party Engineers of Record (EORs) as necessary.
• Prepare project-specific basis-of-design documents for fire protection systems.
• Develop scopes of work, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and evaluation criteria for 3rd party fire protection EOR firms and equipment suppliers.
• Oversee daily management and supervision of fire protection EORs, including design deliverable timelines and engineering budgets.
• Perform QA/QC on 3rd party deliverables (Hazard Mitigation Analysis, Emergency Response Plan, Fire Alarm Design, etc.) to ensure alignment with industry standards, SOLV standards, OEM requirements, and project specifications.
• Collaborate across various engineering disciplines (mainly electrical and SCADA) to guarantee design coherence and project efficiency.
• Assist in optimizing fire protection design for cost, performance, and constructability.
• Provide technical assistance during the testing and commissioning of fire systems.
• Lead interactions with Owners as necessary to address pertinent questions regarding fire protection design and strategy.
• Deliver technical training to the broader SOLV team as required.
• Over 10 years of experience in fire protection engineering, including at least 2 years in energy infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a closely related field (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar) from an accredited institution.
• A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Fire Protection Engineering is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including fire marshals and code officials, to obtain approvals, ensure regulatory compliance, and effectively navigate the permitting, design review, and inspection processes for complex fire protection systems.
• In-depth understanding of fire protection engineering principles.
• Proven track record in managing or reviewing the work of external engineering consultants, owner’s engineers, or peer reviews on complex projects.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes (NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL 855, etc.), engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Proven capability to collaborate across disciplines and time zones while managing multiple consultant contracts and deliverables simultaneously.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
