Principal Financial Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the architecture, strategy, and long-term vision for PadSplit's financial services sector.

• Design and create secure, scalable systems that facilitate payments, billing, collections, and ledger management.

• Spearhead integrations with banks, payment processors, fintech partners, and financial service providers.

• Collaborate closely with leaders in Finance, Product, and Engineering to ensure technical solutions align with business goals.

• Establish and promote best practices concerning reliability, observability, transaction integrity, and financial accuracy.

• Guide senior and staff engineers through architecture reviews, offering technical advice and engineering leadership.

• Lead the investigation, resolution, and prevention of issues affecting financial systems and the movement of money.

• Evaluate emerging technologies, payment solutions, and AI capabilities that enhance efficiency, reliability, or customer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and scaling payment systems, billing platforms, ledgers, banking integrations, or fintech infrastructure.

• Profound expertise in Python and Django, with the capability to design and maintain complex backend services.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React within contemporary web applications.

• Practical experience with ACH, card payments, payment processors, and financial APIs.

• Expertise in PostgreSQL and in designing systems that ensure reconciliation, auditability, and financial precision.

• Proven track record in building distributed, fault-tolerant systems on AWS with robust reliability and scalability practices.

• Knowledge of financial security requirements, data protection, and compliance issues related to financial systems.

• Demonstrated ability to influence engineering strategy, mentor senior engineers, and foster cross-functional collaboration.

• Strong judgment regarding the potential of AI to deliver significant value within financial services and customer experiences.

• Capability to translate intricate financial, technical, and regulatory requirements into clear guidance for technical and business stakeholders.
