Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Prepare and deliver high-quality financial information through analysis, financial statement presentation, and review.

• Execute regular accounting tasks, reporting, and reconciliations across all business units.

• Maintain documentation for centralized purchasing, capital asset tracking, GST/PST, and corporate income tax filings.

• Assist in the administration of commissioned employment contracts.

• Support the AVP Finance with regulatory filing obligations.

• Compile year-end working papers.

• Aid in internal and external audit assessments.

• Implement enhancements to boost accuracy and efficiency in reporting.

• Provide assistance to the Finance department, which includes mentoring junior staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a Business Degree or Diploma with a focus on Finance or Accounting.

• Actively pursuing or already holding a CPA accounting designation.

• At least five years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance position.

• Strong understanding of financial statement presentation, full cycle accounting, and internal controls.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data management.

• Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards and/or corporate income tax preparation is considered a plus.

• Previous experience in a financial institution and/or insurance accounting is advantageous.

• Exceptional attention to detail and research abilities.

• Capability to accurately balance and report accounting transactions with minimal supervision.

• Skill in interpreting accounting transactions to ensure reliable and consistent financial information.

• Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, problem-solving, accountability, and dependability skills.
