Principal Field Clinical Engineer

📋 Description

• Offers technical support to clinical study sites by acting as the technical liaison between engineering and the medical field.

• Attends all ablation procedures at study sites for investigational device studies to guide physicians on protocol requirements and ensure the collection of high-quality data.

• Responsible for identifying investigators, presenting study protocols, assisting investigators with product applications, and submitting status updates on all programs.

• Facilitates all aspects of Clinical Research studies by identifying investigators, nominating and qualifying sites, performing activation tasks, providing training, promoting enrollment, ensuring quality data collection, and executing study closure activities.

• Accountable for acquiring and maintaining knowledge of clinical sites to effectively understand and assess physicians’ interests and capabilities.

• Develops expertise in clinical and market-released products and evidence, serving as a local technical/clinical resource for Medtronic and its customers.

• Responsible for cultivating and leveraging relationships in the field to drive clinical activity and maintain a customer-centric focus.

• Gathers feedback from clinical sites regarding product performance to be incorporated into engineering designs or enhancements, assists research and development in evaluating new product concepts, and considers potential modifications for existing devices while serving as a technical resource for engineering and the medical pacing community.

• Provides both prospective and real-time feedback to clinical study management regarding study design and document development.

• Plays an essential role in educating customers, sales partners, and internal Clinical Research personnel about the technology they support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative roles

• Master's degree with 5 years of experience in clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative roles

• PhD with 3 years of experience in clinical research, clinical specialist/field clinical engineer/clinical sales representative roles

• Training in electrophysiology and cardiac ablation devices is strongly preferred

• Experience at Medtronic or within the medical device industry

• Familiarity with the management of clinical devices

• Experience in a Cath lab, biomedical engineering, hospital/clinic settings, or medical sales

• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials

• Experience in clinical studies and/or trial site management/protocols

• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional clinical partners/customers, physicians, and/or medical sales colleagues in the healthcare sector
