Warehouse Lead Industrial Engineer

📋 Description

• Fosters the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture throughout the organization by actively implementing continuous improvement techniques to enhance both new and existing operations.

• The Lead Engineer will identify, spearhead, and facilitate change within the operation using data-driven Continuous Improvement (CI), Engineering, and Automation initiatives to achieve superior performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.

• Gathers data and conducts statistical analysis.

• Maps out and documents processes.

• Proactively identifies process deficiencies; suggests and executes process enhancements.

• Develops a comprehensive, efficient, and timely continuous improvement strategy to add value for our customers (including transformation plan development and execution).

• Leads process improvement initiatives to realize measurable enhancements in critical business metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.

• Oversees and finalizes impactful CI projects across the operation, resulting in improved business outcomes.

• Evaluates CI initiatives and offers insights and recommendations for future projects.

• Aids in start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, including pricing input, go-live, and steady-state certifications.

• Identifies and supports Automation initiatives.

• Regularly engages with account Management and/or customers.

• Exhibits a high level of proficiency in a broad spectrum of engineering methodologies, Lean tools, and quality standards, while coaching employees in the application and execution of CI, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles.

• Utilizes engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, labor standard assessments (time studies), layout optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to enhance distribution and/or transportation operations.

• May supervise CI engineering and quality professionals.

• With managerial guidance, participates in employment decisions (hiring, coaching) and performance management.

• Facilitates and executes Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events through all phases (A3 charter ideation/creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results during Kaizen week, and ongoing follow-ups on sustainment).

• Coaches process owners in utilizing Lean methods to attain operational excellence.

• Provides regular updates on data and actions to assess progress against site objectives.

• Makes recommendations regarding Inventory and/or Supply Chain strategies.

• Designs, implements, monitors, and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with established company and/or industry standards.

• Implements and oversees a standardized corrective action system.

• Ensures compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.

• Handles all Quality Assurance functions for a start-up or expansion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain required.

• A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in the Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing sectors is necessary.

• A Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management, along with five (5) years of relevant experience is preferred.

• Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in Warehousing & Transportation and/or Manufacturing industries is required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio is essential.

• Experience in data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX, etc.) is necessary.

• Expertise in developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Management Accountability Systems, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S/Workplace Organization is required.

• Comprehensive understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions (such as slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, metrics, etc.) is essential.

• Familiarity with warehouse design tools such as CAD (e.g., AutoCAD), slotting tools (e.g., Slot3D), Predetermined Motion and Time Systems (e.g., MOST), Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., Manhattan Scale), and Labor Management Systems is required.

• Preferred knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, various warehouse types (ambient, temperature-controlled), warehouse layout/design, and Lean methods.

• Preferred understanding of material handling solutions and automation types, including powered industrial truck (PIT) applications, racking and other storage solution designs, packaging equipment, conveyor and sortation equipment, and other automation solutions (e.g., AS/RS).

• Preferred knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks.

• Preferred familiarity with all available equipment types such as dry van, temperature control, flatbed, and other specialized equipment. Proficiency with Transportation Design Tools (e.g., JDA, Appian) and Network Design Tools (e.g., Llamasoft), Transportation Management Systems (e.g., JDA, OTM), and Mapping Software (e.g., Tableau) is beneficial.

• Required certification in Lean Six Sigma.

• Required certifications: cPMP, ISO/QMS.
