Principal Engineer – Core Cloud Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architectural roadmap for the cloud, Kubernetes, and storage platform.

• Manage cloud-side configuration and oversee the Helm chart layer for Cloud Core.

• Develop the cell registry and automate provisioning to streamline new cell setups from weeks to days.

• Design a cross-cell gate mechanism as a reusable standard checkpoint applicable across all cells.

• Oversee, operate, and enhance the Cloud and Kubernetes platform, including data storage layers.

• Implement upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management routinely across numerous clusters.

• Enhance infrastructure security, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.

• Advocate for standards and spearhead initiatives to foster uniformity and eliminate redundancy.

• Facilitate self-service and agentic workflow patterns that support a Build it - Own it model.

• Develop tools and AI-driven integrations to alleviate cognitive load in cloud operations.

• Architect, design, and implement straightforward, maintainable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Highly experienced in Kubernetes, its various components, containerization, and AWS cloud services.

• Demonstrated success in managing Kubernetes- and cloud-based production SaaS systems at scale.

• Experience operating Kubernetes as a large fleet encompassing hundreds of clusters.

• Strong expertise in data storage solutions including SQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch.

• Excellent operational and troubleshooting skills with Kubernetes, databases, and messaging systems.

• Profound understanding of networking and practical experience with service meshes and gateways.

• Experience in separating infrastructure configuration from application code at scale.

• Familiarity with cell-based, multi-tenant, or multi-region architectures.

• Proficient in Python and Golang.

• Expertise in high-performance CI/CD practices that support agentic workflows.

• Capability and enthusiasm to design, lead, influence, and execute ambitious technical roadmaps.
