Principal Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Establish long-term technical visions and strategies across various teams.

• Promote architectural coherence and ensure alignment with business objectives.

• Initiate shifts in architectural momentum when required and guide teams towards common outcomes.

• Navigate through ambiguity to define scalable technical solutions.

• Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, product teams, customers, peers, and executives.

• Drive architectural decisions from implementation to adoption, focusing on measurable business or technical impact.

• Assist teams in thoughtfully integrating AI into product, architecture, and engineering workflow decisions.

• Collaborate with various teams and leaders, influencing without direct authority.

• Mentor and guide engineers while fostering the development of technical leaders.

• Make long-term, customer-centric trade-off decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in building and delivering production-grade software or services.

• Deep understanding of software design patterns and principles.

• Proven experience in establishing architectural vision and strategy for multiple teams.

• Track record of driving architectural decisions through implementation, adoption, and measurable results.

• Experience in helping teams thoughtfully incorporate AI into product, architecture, and engineering workflows.

• Expertise in developing highly available services at scale.

• More than 15 years of experience in building distributed services.

• Ability to collaborate across teams and leaders, influence indirectly, and manage challenging conversations and decisions.

• Strong communication skills with customers, peers, and executive leadership.

• Passion for mentoring engineers and nurturing technical leaders.

• Capability to create and articulate a vision or plan effectively.

• Strategic mindset with a focus on customer needs and product comprehension.

• Preferred experience with AWS, React, Node.js, TypeScript, PHP, MySQL, and NoSQL databases.

• Preferred familiarity with Cursor or Claude Code/Cowork.
