This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert within the Major Projects Group.
• Create safe utility-scale electrical designs from the proposal stage to project completion.
• Lead efforts in electrical systems analysis and modeling.
• Provide training and mentorship to technical staff and junior engineers.
• Collaborate with internal project teams, clients, vendors, and external engineering firms.
• Establish metrics and set engineering objectives and design standards.
• Conduct studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection and coordination, dynamic and transient stability, electromagnetic transient, islanded microgrid, and inverter-based resource grid.
• Assist in client finance reviews and procurement decisions regarding high-risk matters.
• Review contracts to shield the company from high-risk design commercial concerns.
• Create processes that integrate Owner requirements into conceptual procurement and final project designs.
• Evaluate and enhance engineering partner performance.
• Support innovative materials, construction, and technical initiatives.
• Travel up to 15% as business needs arise.
• Over 10 years of engineering leadership experience in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or power generation.
• Proficiency with PSCAD, ETAP, SKM, PSSE, and PSCAD/EMTDC.
• A Bachelor's degree in electrical or power systems engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or relevant equivalent industry experience is required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
• Experience in leading and developing engineers while establishing technical standards.
• Strong experience in systems studies and modeling in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or power generation.
• Commitment to the National Society of Professional Engineers’ code of conduct.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
