Principal DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage secure agent runtimes featuring sandboxing, runtime isolation, network policies, secrets management, RBAC, and approval workflows, ensuring agents are a reliable component of the infrastructure.

• Design and oversee the integration surface using MCP-style adapters and gateways that enable agents to interact with source control, CI/CD, ticketing, documentation, cloud, and observability systems across all marketplace teams.

• Construct and take ownership of the evaluation pipeline, incorporating golden tasks, graders, regression tests, and release gates to make the correctness of agentic workflows both measurable and economically viable for teams.

• Execute observability and cost management measures, including traces, telemetry, token usage, cost-per-workflow, rate limits, and failure management, ensuring stakeholders are always informed about operations, costs, and necessary actions during failures.

• Establish reusable scaffolding such as templates, starter kits, wrapper scripts, and workflow automation that translate successful marketplace pilot patterns into platform components readily adoptable by any team within a day.

• Collaborate with the AI Architect to bring the reference architecture to life through coding, production deployment, and adherence to timelines without delays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering internal developer platforms or developer tools that real teams rely on, complete with users, SLAs, and on-call rotations, rather than just side projects.

• Practical knowledge of designing and managing secure execution environments that include sandboxing, runtime isolation, RBAC, secrets, and audit logging at a production scale.

• A background in delivering integrations across source control, CI/CD, ticketing, documentation, cloud, and observability systems in diverse programming environments.

• Familiarity with building or managing tool gateways, adapters, or MCP-style integrations for agents, along with an understanding of the new failure modes they may introduce.

• An instrumentation-centric approach where traces, telemetry, cost-per-workflow, and evaluation pipelines are integral practices rather than afterthoughts.

• An SRE mentality prioritizing reliability, rollback, rate limiting, graceful degradation, and cost control as essential focuses from the outset.

• A history of delivering reusable templates and starter kits that teams genuinely embrace, rather than internal frameworks that remain unused.

• Proficiency with modern infrastructure including containers, cloud (AWS or equivalent), IaC, CI/CD, APIs, and scripting languages.

• Experience supporting numerous engineers or multiple teams as internal clients, balancing standardized defaults with necessary exceptions.

• The capability to work closely with security, legal, and risk stakeholders while maintaining project momentum.
