Principal Database Administrator, DBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Take charge of Database Reliability: Lead strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.

• Architect for Scalability: Develop and implement a roadmap for scalability.

• Enhance Performance: Conduct thorough query optimization.

• Design Infrastructure: Create and oversee scalable inference and connection pooling methods.

• Establish Observability: Create the monitoring framework and define SLIs/SLOs.

• Advocate for Security: Apply banking-grade security protocols.

• Collaborate Across Engineering: Partner with product teams to ensure database schema modifications support high-load scenarios.

• Lead by Example: Elevate the technical standards for the DBA function through mentoring and active involvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production settings (preferably in Fintech or mission-critical systems).

• Extensive PostgreSQL Knowledge: In-depth understanding of index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), partitioning, and vacuum tuning.

• Mastery in HA/DR: Demonstrated skill in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.

• Cloud Proficiency: Practical experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (notably on GCP) and Linux systems administration.

• Automation Focus: Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD processes (GitLab, ArgoCD).

• Strong SQL Proficiency: Mastery in complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.

• Observability Expertise: Experience in building monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).

• Proficient in English.
