This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop enterprise-wide data modeling standards, encompassing conceptual, logical, and physical models for governed, efficient, and reusable data products on Snowflake.
• Convert business concepts, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), and analytical requirements into structured schemas and semantic definitions.
• Establish and maintain canonical entities, conformed dimensions, and metric definitions in line with the glossary/ontology.
• Execute physical data models on Snowflake, including star/snowflake schemas, Data Vault, and 3NF structures when applicable.
• Enhance Snowflake implementations through micro-partitioning, materialized views, search optimization, and strategic clustering.
• Record design decisions such as handling Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) and surrogate keys.
• Define and uphold data product contracts, covering schemas, SLAs/SLOs, versioning, and change management policies.
• Ensure models are discoverable and governed with comprehensive metadata, lineage, and ownership in the catalog.
• Classify and tag CDEs/PII, enabling tag-based masking and row-access policies, including documentation for attestations.
• Publish modeling standards and runbooks that support performance and reliability objectives, including Business Intelligence latency targets of under 10 seconds when necessary.
• Offer guidance on warehouse strategy, result caching, and model refactoring.
• Specify validation rules and profiling thresholds associated with CDEs and integrate tests into CI/CD and stewardship workflows.
• Create model diagrams, semantic definitions, and consumer-facing guides.
• Collaborate with stewards and analysts to promote adoption and phase out redundant reports and datasets.
• Employ model-as-code practices using Git-based CI/CD and testing while designing for privacy and performance.
• Mentor junior data modelers as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Information Management, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in data modeling and warehouse design.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver conceptual, logical, and physical models utilized at scale.
• Practical experience in Snowflake data modeling with star/snowflake schemas and 3NF/Data Vault where applicable.
• Familiarity with Snowflake performance optimization techniques, including materialized views, search optimization, and clustering/micro-partition hygiene.
• Experience in designing data contracts and working with CDEs, including schemas/SLOs, versioning, and glossary, lineage, and stewardship integration.
• Knowledge of governance and privacy practices, including object tags, classification/retention alignment, tag-based masking, and row-access.
• Proficiency with SQL and dbt or equivalent for model-as-code, testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
• Experience using modeling/diagram tools and catalog/lineage platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of reconciling competing narratives and converging on trusted, reusable semantics.
• Experience in mapping business architecture and ontology to data models, including metric layers and semantic models for BI.
• Exposure to data fabric concepts, including automation of tagging/metadata and policy propagation.
• Snowflake SnowPro, dbt certification, and familiarity with CDMP/DCAM are advantageous.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship, including CPT/OPT, is not available.
• Reliable high-speed internet with a wired connection and a minimally disruptive home workspace is required for remote work.
• Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
