Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain scalable and efficient data pipelines and systems in accordance with contemporary data engineering best practices.

• Assess and prototype new tools and technologies, evaluating their advantages and potential risks.

• Create and uphold scalable data pipelines and models utilizing Databricks, dbt, and SQL (PostgreSQL).

• Develop comprehensive data solutions using AWS services such as Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, and CloudWatch.

• Execute data transformations and integrations with Python and Java.

• Guarantee the reliability, performance, and maintainability of end-to-end data systems.

• Implement infrastructure-as-code with Terraform for managing cloud resources.

• Monitor and enhance system health and performance through CloudWatch and Splunk.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and conduct code reviews.

• Effectively communicate technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver solutions within agile environments.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 10 years of professional experience in data engineering or associated fields.

• Extensive hands-on experience with:

• Databricks (deep expertise required).

• AWS native services.

• Dbt, SQL (PostgreSQL), Python, Java, AWS (Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, CloudWatch), Data Pipelines, Data Modeling, System Maintenance, Data Integration, Performance Optimization.

• Demonstrated leadership experience within technical teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in agile, iterative software development environments.

• Capability to rapidly learn and implement new technologies and domain knowledge.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex topics to diverse audiences.
