Principal Cloud Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with DevOps, CI/CD engineers, and the Architects team to integrate security best practices within the cloud infrastructure.

• Serve as a strategic leader in security by establishing and promoting cloud security principles, standards, and reference architectures throughout the organization.

• Leverage your expertise in security architecture to assist engineers in building and securely operating products and services from the ground up.

• Evaluate, design, and implement security processes and controls to fulfill security, compliance, and audit requirements.

• Conduct proactive research to identify emerging threats and attack vectors.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate shift-left security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Implement and oversee cloud and Kubernetes security posture management tools to continuously monitor and mitigate risks across containerized workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working with AWS and its security services in a secure production environment, including IAM, Config, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and GuardDuty.

• Proven track record of closely collaborating with engineering teams to assist them in adopting shift-left security practices.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform), version control, and CI tools like GitLab and GitLab CI.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes (AWS EKS), containers (Docker, AWS ECS), K8s admission controllers, and Supply Chain Security.

• Strong understanding of internet and computer network protocols, including TCP/IP, TLS, and VPN.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Team-oriented collaborator with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.

• AWS Certified Security – Specialty certification or a similar qualification is beneficial, but not mandatory.

• General knowledge of AI tools and large language models (e.g., Claude by Anthropic, AWS Bedrock) is a plus, but not required.
