Principal Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and develop enterprise storage platforms that guarantee data integrity, availability, security, and readiness for disaster recovery.

• Create and implement comprehensive storage solutions, which include Software Defined Storage, SAN, NAS, and object storage in private cloud and data center settings.

• Influence strategic technology choices by assessing emerging products, tools, and standards that support storage, data protection, cloud, and computing environments.

• Lead initiatives focused on modernizing infrastructure, data protection, cyber recovery, data migration, and resilience engineering.

• Formulate and execute enterprise strategies for backup, recovery, cyber vaulting, and business continuity.

• Develop and maintain thorough documentation of storage architectures, configurations, policies, and operational procedures.

• Collaborate closely with enterprise security teams to establish and enforce controls that safeguard sensitive data against cyber threats and unauthorized access.

• Remain informed about emerging technologies in cloud storage, data protection, resiliency, and cybersecurity, recommending innovations to boost performance and lower costs.

• Offer expert-level guidance on multi-vendor storage technologies, ensuring optimal lifecycle, supportability, and performance outcomes.

• Mentor and guide engineering teams to promote technical excellence and ongoing improvement.

• Act as a senior technical advisor to application, operations, and leadership teams, shaping strategy for compute, storage, cloud, and data protection services.

• Promote standardization, automation, and orchestration to enhance storage operations and increase infrastructure efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering with extensive expertise in cloud storage, data protection, and cyber recovery.

• Expert knowledge of SAN, NAS, Object Storage, Software Defined Storage, architectures, and associated ecosystem technologies.

• Proven experience in leading data center consolidation, large-scale data migrations, and cloud storage modernization projects.

• Strong experience in managing multi-vendor relationships across major storage, backup, and cloud platform providers such as Dell PMAX, PFLEX, PowerScale, ObjectScale, and Vast.

• Demonstrated ability to develop backup, recovery, and cyber resiliency strategies for critical workloads.

• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., OpenShift, VMware, Hyper-V); knowledge of networking fundamentals is an advantage.
