This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• As a part of our Certification team, you will report to the Senior Manager of Certification Engineering and assist in steering the certification initiatives for our inaugural certified aircraft.
• Facilitate and back certification activities for the designated Engineering teams.
• Develop compliance strategies for certification, including methods to adhere to FAA regulations.
• Collaborate closely with the teams to define relevant designs, development, and certification plans for Type Certification.
• Serve as a liaison between the teams and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs).
• Clearly communicate regulatory requirements to the teams and other Archer teams to ensure that all stakeholders grasp the scope of compliance activities.
• Verify that suitable methods of compliance are chosen and followed.
• Lead the creation, drafting, review, and implementation of certification plans.
• Aid in the planning and execution of development and certification test campaigns, which include coordinating Conformity Inspections, DER witnessing, and documenting test results.
• Evaluate designs and documentation with DERs to confirm compliance with airworthiness standards.
• Support meetings with regulatory authorities; prepare briefing materials, and ensure the completion of action items.
• Work together with other members of the certification team to formulate integrated aircraft-level planning.
• BS/MS in Engineering or a related field.
• Over 15 years of experience in certification for civil or military aircraft.
• Prior experience with Part 23, 8110.4c, AC 20-107, AC 23-19, and other relevant regulations and guidance materials.
• Capability to interpret FAA regulations and guidance materials and effectively communicate requirements to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in developing and executing certification plans.
• Experience in direct interaction and communication with the FAA.
• Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
• Background as an FAA DER.
• Experience with ODA’s.
• Experience in certifying electrical systems, mechanical systems, propulsion, and structures.
• Experience with FAA Conformity.
• Familiarity with TSO approvals.
• Experience with eVTOL, powered-lift, or other special class aircraft development (Bonus Qualifications).
• Familiarity with the Issue Paper process (Bonus Qualifications).
