This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Contribute individually by architecting systems, writing code, and managing deployments.
• Serve as the engineering liaison between MPG and the client, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and Engineering Leadership.
• Transform client requirements into actionable tasks for yourself and your team.
• Make informed design decisions based on performance, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Guide and assign tasks to team members to foster their development as engineers.
• Develop cost estimates for online services based on anticipated concurrent user volumes.
• Promote engineering best practices across teams, focusing on modular design, code quality, and testing.
• Collaborate with the Lead and Production teams to communicate risks, advantages, and future project plans.
• Actively mentor the engineering team toward achieving professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certification) and technical leadership roles.
• Experience in game development with a track record of launching multiple live games (or similar products) with a significant concurrent user base.
• Demonstrated expertise in architecting distributed applications accommodating a high number of concurrent users (hundreds of thousands), ideally evidenced by a released title or comprehensive load tests.
• Production experience in at least one of the following languages: Java, Golang, C#, C++, Kotlin; familiarity with Python, Node.js, and React is a plus.
• Strong database skills, proficient in both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure; an AWS Certification at the Professional level is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to build backend infrastructure utilizing infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform.
• Proven experience in using Kubernetes and Docker to develop scalable products.
• Capability to autonomously architect and design online services based on specifications.
• Ability to manage changes calmly and handle multiple potentially confidential information pieces.
• Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong and effective communicator, able to discuss technical strategies with non-technical stakeholders and adjust to client requirements.
• Experience in creating CI/CD pipelines from scratch or enhancing existing client solutions.
• Awareness of the security and cheating implications related to technology choices.
• Familiarity with using Gen AI for code generation.

• In-depth knowledge in at least one key area of backend technology, such as DevOps, Microservices, or Cloud Architecture.
• Understanding of backend service integration with games; experience with Unreal or Unity is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of utilizing LLMs to process and query both structured and unstructured data.
