Senior Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Designing, maintaining, and providing support for payment solutions.

• Collaborating within teams or operating independently as required.

• Interacting with business stakeholders to gain insights into their challenges.

• Working alongside architects, analysts, and other experts to propose technical solutions.

• Defining and executing Proof of Concepts when necessary.

• Detecting and addressing issues during incidents.

• Engaging in Agile (Scrum) processes: attending meetings, updating progress, and estimating tasks.

• Ensuring projects and tasks are completed on time and meet standard compliance.

• Suggesting improvements to enhance application usability and efficiency.

• Supporting fellow developers and contributing to various projects as needed.

• Providing flexible application support during critical events, in rotation with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Java developer across various software projects.

• A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline is essential.

• Proficiency in Java 11+, the Spring framework, and SQL, preferably MySQL.

• Experience with Java-based ORMs, specifically JPA/Hibernate.

• Expertise in designing and developing RESTful web services and clients.

• Strong grasp of Java concurrency and multithreading principles.

• Familiarity with Maven and Linux environments.

• Knowledge of asynchronous messaging, particularly Kafka.

• Proficient in CI tools and automation, especially Gitlab.

• Dedicated to delivering high-quality, robust software.

• Experienced with Agile development methodologies, particularly Scrum.

• Capable of JVM monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting Java applications in production.

• An analytical thinker with strong creative problem-solving skills.

• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
