Principal Architect – SAP Basis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with IT and internal teams to assist, design, implement, and uphold SAP systems throughout MKS’s global SAP landscape.

• Work alongside colleagues in the IT organization to address complex business challenges and spearhead the development of high-level solution options and technical strategies.

• Lead technical projects such as infrastructure upgrades, data center migrations, and disaster recovery plans.

• Create project plans for SAP infrastructure and application initiatives.

• Ensure that technical milestones set by application delivery managers are met.

• Assess and suggest SAP technologies and associated products.

• Diagnose and resolve major system issues, including performance bottlenecks and stability problems.

• Balance architectural and project responsibilities (approximately 80%) with operational support tasks (approximately 20%).

• Oversee multiple projects at the same time.

• Report directly to the SAP Basis Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• 8+ years of experience in SAP Basis administration and architecture within complex enterprise settings.

• In-depth experience with SAP ERP, SAP APO, SAP Fiori, SAP GRC, SAP Portal, SAP BW, SAP PO, SAP SSO Server, and SAP Web Dispatcher.

• Strong proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.

• Robust experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP HANA, and MaxDB databases supporting SAP applications.

• Established background in performing SAP version upgrades and support package updates.

• Practical experience with SAP security and authentication technologies, including SSO, SNC, SAML, multi-factor authentication, and load balancing.

• Familiarity with managing SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), and SAP IBP.

• SAP certification in SAP Basis, SAP HANA, or related SAP technologies is preferred.

• Experience with SAP cloud integration and hybrid landscape architectures is preferred.

• Knowledge of automation, monitoring, and orchestration tools used in SAP operations is preferred.

• Experience leading offshore technical teams and third-party service providers is preferred.

• Strong understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and enterprise operational governance is preferred.

• Ability to function in an office or remote setting using standard computer equipment.

• Capability to sit for extended periods while engaging in technical and analytical tasks.

• Willingness to participate in after-hours maintenance, system upgrades, and production support activities.

• May require involvement in on-call support rotations for critical SAP production environments.
