This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and enhance high-scale dbt models that convert raw upstream inputs into clean, well-documented, analytics-ready data products with defined contracts and ownership.
• Establish essential guardrails, clear grain definitions, meaningful metadata descriptions, and sanctioned access paths to ensure AI tools and agents can accurately query data without circumventing governance.
• Influence how metrics are defined and presented so that analysts, dashboards, and AI tools all yield consistent answers to the same query, transforming the semantic layer into production-grade infrastructure for AI-driven business intelligence.
• Address recurring challenges faced by analysts—such as ambiguous metrics, broken joins, or undocumented fields—by creating durable, reusable models, patterns, and shared interfaces.
• Define and uphold the standards for what constitutes "done" for a data product, incorporating rigorous testing, freshness expectations, data catalogs, and metadata ownership throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate across data platforms and product teams to identify use cases, eliminate redundant work, highlight technical trade-offs early, and significantly decrease cycle times from business inquiries to trusted answers.
• Work alongside data and analytics engineering colleagues to establish and uphold global patterns, package management, and repository best practices.
• Elevate the overall engineering standards within the organization by conducting technical reviews, organizing office hours, and leading pair-programming sessions with domain analysts and engineers.
• 12+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering with significant analytics collaboration, or a comparable technical data role.
• Proficient in SQL at an expert level and strong Python skills for advanced data tasks, with a proven history of delivering within a modern data stack (transformation-as-code, orchestration, warehouses, and business intelligence).
• Familiarity with data governance tools, including data catalogs, lineage systems, and policy-aware access patterns.
• Outstanding cross-functional leadership abilities with a track record of influencing engineering and product teams without direct authority.
• Excellent technical communication skills, capable of articulating complex modeling decisions to a product analyst without jargon, and to a platform engineer without oversimplifying.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage tailored to your needs.
• Flexible vacation policy; work diligently and take time off as needed.
• Pet discount plans and a retirement plan with company match (401K).
• This position is eligible for a competitive year-end performance bonus and equity package.
