Principal Analytics Consultant, Power BI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design and execution of sophisticated Power BI reporting, data models, and analytics solutions for enterprise clients.

• Convert business needs into effective, scalable technical solutions and interactive prototypes that adhere to phData methodologies, standards, and best practices.

• Execute project-based consulting engagements, offering backlog support and development while ensuring timely completion, adherence to scope, and delivery of measurable business value.

• Develop reporting and data visualization solutions that effectively convey insights to business users, facilitating data-driven decision-making.

• Analyze, diagnose, and optimize performance issues or deployment challenges across Power BI reports, data models, and associated platforms.

• Propose best practices to enhance data models, DAX calculations, queries, and overall platform architecture, especially within modern cloud data environments (e.g., Snowflake).

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including data engineering, analytics, and client business stakeholders, to ensure successful client engagements.

• Manage client expectations by leading regular status meetings, delivering clear updates, and actively seeking feedback through working sessions and demonstrations.

• Provide both technical and strategic leadership in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service administration, including security roles and infrastructure setup.

• Maintain high quality in deliverables through comprehensive documentation, validation, testing, and compliance with governance, security, and change management standards.

• Collaborate with practice and account leaders to identify opportunities for expanding analytics use cases, enhancing delivery patterns, and standardizing reusable approaches.

• Contribute to internal initiatives such as developing Power BI accelerators, templates, governance frameworks, and best-practice guides.

• Promote internal enablement through training, mentoring, and coaching on Power BI, data modeling, and enterprise BI standards.

• Represent phData with professionalism in all interactions, communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping Power BI and analytics roadmaps, influencing strategic decisions, and guiding long-term initiatives.

• Lead teams of consultants to ensure high performance, utilization, and successful project delivery across one or more engagements.

• Propel enterprise-scale adoption of Power BI, including standards, governance, security models, and self-service enablement.

• Assist in defining and refining practice standards, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks for modern BI and analytics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data analytics and data visualization platforms in an enterprise setting.

• More than 3 years of external consulting experience delivering data and analytics solutions to clients.

• Proficient in data visualization and data modeling with Power BI, including complex data models and interactive dashboards.

• Experience in Power BI Service administration, including security roles, workspace design, and infrastructure setup.

• Strong skills in DAX and Power Query for advanced calculations, transformations, and data shaping.

• Knowledge of SQL with experience in utilizing data warehouses, data marts, and/or data models (preferably in a Snowflake environment).

• Proven expertise in data fluency and the ability to communicate analytical insights and recommendations to business users.

• Capability to identify and suggest functionalities and solutions to meet and enhance user and stakeholder needs.

• Experience in recommending and implementing best practices for optimizing data models, reports, and overall analytics platform architecture.

• Background in delivering projects for external or internal clients in a professional services or consulting context.

• Ability to deconstruct complex problems into structured, actionable steps and drive them to completion.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Demonstrated effectiveness in working with distributed and cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment.

• Outstanding customer-facing skills, with a solid track record of building trust and long-term relationships with senior stakeholders.

• Proven ability to take ownership, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.

• Strong problem-solving abilities coupled with a passion for learning and mastering new technologies, techniques, and processes.
