This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• In the role of Principal AI Engineer at Rula, you will be responsible for establishing the AI framework that influences the integration of generative AI in mental healthcare.
• Your work will intersect architecture, applied research, and practical clinical limitations, as you design robust, production-ready systems that enhance patient engagement and streamline provider workflows on a large scale.
• This position is highly hands-on, where you will serve as a technical multiplier by architecting essential platform components (RAG, agentic loops) while upholding the standards of technical excellence and safety within a regulated setting.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, including more than 7 years with Public Cloud services (AWS, GCP, etc.).
• At least 5 years of experience in designing and scaling distributed systems.
• A minimum of 5 years of extensive experience in Python and at least one additional backend language (TypeScript, Java, Go, etc.).
• More than 2 years of experience in creating AI-driven products at scale using foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.).
• At least 2 years of experience with LLM integration methodologies such as RAG, agentic loops, and orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Over 3 years of experience working with MLOps, data pipelines, evaluation, and observability systems aimed at continuous model enhancement.
