Principal AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and advancement of cloud-native infrastructure for the Student Journey Platform.

• Establish and advocate for architectural standards within the platform's scope.

• Oversee the architecture design and implementation across various components.

• Align the platform's architecture with the evolving needs of business growth and scalability.

• Present robust architecture proposals to the Architecture Review Board (ARB).

• Proactively identify and mitigate architectural risks at an early stage.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues at the production level.

• Implement and oversee event streaming and real-time processing pipelines.

• Design and manage multi-tenant cloud infrastructure for deployments across university partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of advancing into architectural leadership.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes (preferably AKS), containerization (Docker), and designing distributed systems at a production scale.

• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction across engineering teams.

• Extensive knowledge in autoscaling policy design, resource governance, and cost management within cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP are acceptable).

• Experience in converting business and product requirements into infrastructure architecture, including capacity planning, SLA definition, and effectively communicating trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficient in Python, C#, Java, or a similar language utilized in production systems.
