Principal AI Developer, Experience Architect

Posted Jun 20

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Architect the AI Engineering Layer

• Define the comprehensive architecture for AI-enhanced development at SentinelOne, focusing on enterprise-grade AI coding assistants and LLM platforms integrated with our IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and internal systems.

• Design the process for large-context LLMs to utilize our codebase and documentation context, ensuring AI assistance scales safely across numerous repositories.

• Establish reusable patterns for agentic workflows, incorporating clear rollback and validation strategies.

• Own AI Guardrails, Skills, and Standards

• Define and uphold SentinelOne AI Coding Standards along with a global skills and requirements framework that all AI coding tools (including our selected AI coding assistants, PR bots, and agents) must adhere to, covering aspects like language, framework, security, performance, and reliability patterns.

• Translate these standards into prompt templates, tool configurations, and policy-as-code to ensure automatic enforcement rather than relying solely on documentation.

• Collaborate with InfoSec, Data Governance, and Legal teams to ensure compliance of all AI tooling with SentinelOne’s AI Policies, data residency, and FedRAMP requirements.

• Implement AI-Driven Code Review and Safety as Code

• Lead the integration of AI-driven code review tools that utilize AST analysis and static/dynamic checks to enforce style, security, performance, and reliability standards prior to human review.

• Integrate AI review signals with our SRE observability stack (logs, metrics, traces) to correlate code changes with incidents and anomalies, thus closing the feedback loop from PR to production behavior.

• Encode “safety as code” by incorporating test coverage, performance scans, and progressive delivery patterns (canaries, blue/green) into AI-driven change processes.

• Lead Vendor Evaluation and Integration

• Act as the principal technical authority for evaluations of AI developer tooling, utilizing structured evaluation criteria and data-driven analysis.

• Collaborate closely with DevEx leadership and TPM to design and execute POCs, establish technical success criteria, and develop executive-ready recommendations.

• Ensure all vendors comply with SentinelOne’s standards for security, privacy, and data governance.

• Drive Developer Adoption and Experience

• Serve as the technical representative of AI DevEx to engineering: publish guidance, patterns, and internal frameworks that seamlessly integrate AI tooling into daily workflows rather than treating it as a side experiment.

• Partner with the AI Champions Network and Learning & Development to create curricula, hands-on labs, and “day-in-the-life” workflows that enhance prompt engineering and AI-assisted development skills across developer teams.

• Collaborate across the SentinelOne developer community to translate adoption and productivity metrics into DORA metrics and ROI narratives that resonate with Engineering Leadership, Finance, and the CFO.

• Partner on Reliability, Metrics, and Governance

• Collaborate with SRE and Reliability Engineering to ensure AI-accelerated delivery enhances MTTR, CFR, and SLO performance.

• Engage in the DevEx governance framework to prioritize initiatives, manage risks, and align AI DevEx roadmaps with organizational objectives.

• Own the engineering intelligence dashboards and leadership reports to highlight the impact of AI tooling on developer productivity metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, platform/dev tools, or infrastructure engineering, with substantial experience at the Staff/Principal level in a product organization with 300+ engineers.

• More than 3 years of experience in designing and deploying LLM-powered developer tools or workflows in production settings.

• Proven history of architecting developer platforms or large-scale internal tools utilized by hundreds of engineers.

• Profound knowledge of LLM context window design, retrieval strategies, and prompt engineering at scale, as well as their interaction with large polyglot codebases.

• Hands-on experience with the integration of at least one enterprise AI coding assistant into IDEs and Git hosting platforms.

• Strong background in AST-based code analysis, static/dynamic analysis, and policy-as-code for automated PR review.

• Solid understanding of CI/CD systems and progressive delivery, along with strategies for embedding AI into those pipelines.

• Strong foundation in security and compliance for SaaS and AI/ML systems.

• Experience serving as a cross-organizational technical leader, aligning Staff/Principal engineers, EMs, and PMs around a unified architecture and standards.

• Comfortable presenting technical trade-offs and ROI to senior leadership, and justifying architectural decisions with data.

• Proven capability to mentor and collaborate with the entire Product and Technology organizations to deliver complex multi-quarter programs.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to create clear design documents, evaluation criteria, and developer-facing guidance that drive alignment at scale.
