• Develop high-quality real-time characters from initial blockout to final in-engine asset.
• Sculpt and enhance characters, creatures, armor, outfits, and related assets, ensuring a strong sense of anatomy, form, and material definition.
• Set and uphold a high standard of quality through direct execution and artistic direction.
• Construct clean topology, UVs, materials, and shaders that facilitate rigging, deformation, clarity, and runtime performance.
• Take ownership of and enhance in-engine character workflows, including hair, customization, and modular gear systems.
• Collaborate with rigging, animation, design, and technical art teams to ensure characters meet gameplay requirements and are visually clear in motion.
• Align character creations with class fantasy, faction identity, world tone, and gameplay clarity in partnership with Art Direction, Design, and Production.
• Contribute to scaling the character pipeline through workflow enhancements, constructive feedback, mentorship, and leadership in craft.
• 5+ years of experience in creating character art for games in real-time engines.
• A portfolio that showcases a high visual standard across anatomy, costume design, materials, and overall presentation.
• Comprehensive understanding of real-time character pipelines, including implementation, optimization, and cross-disciplinary integration.
• Experience with character materials/shaders, hair workflows, customization systems, and modular outfits/gear.
• Demonstrated ability to create game-ready characters from high-poly sculptures to final in-engine assets.
• Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as ZBrush, Maya/Blender/3ds Max, and Substance Painter.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, silhouette, form, material response, topology, and UVs relevant to rigging/deformation.
• A solid understanding of gameplay readability and how characters contribute to gameplay systems.
• Capability to work independently, collaborate across functions, and elevate team quality through feedback and mentorship.
