This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the creation of innovative and sophisticated pricing strategies that align with client business goals while enhancing the firm's profitability.
• Collaborate with the Business Development and Marketing teams to formulate competitive, value-oriented fee proposals for key pursuit opportunities.
• Utilize market insights, historical data, and financial analysis to generate precise and defendable budgets and fee estimates that balance competitiveness with margin performance.
• Monitor profitability in real-time on high-value matters, proactively identifying changes in scope, budget discrepancies, and margin risks.
• Generate regular and ad hoc reports that cover rate utilization, exceptions, compliance metrics, AFA performance, budget-to-actual variances, realization, and upcoming rate adjustments.
• Conduct thorough post-matter financial analyses to extract lessons learned and inform future pricing strategies for similar engagements.
• Collaborate with the Chief Pricing & Analytics Officer to assess margin performance and pinpoint opportunities for pricing enhancements across practice groups and client portfolios.
• Educate attorneys on pricing models, law firm economics, matter management, and client communication strategies related to pricing.
• Simplify complex financial concepts into clear, actionable guidance for attorneys and clients.
• Remain updated on pricing trends within the legal industry, client expectations, and new fee arrangement models through ongoing professional development and market intelligence.
• Analyze competitor pricing intelligence and market trends to ensure the firm maintains a competitive edge in key pursuits.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
• Strong familiarity with the full Microsoft 365 suite, particularly PowerPoint.
• Prior experience in a law firm is mandatory.
• At least 5–7 years of progressive experience in legal pricing, legal project management, finance, or a closely related area within a law firm.
• Proven track record in developing complex matter budgets, staffing models, and alternative fee arrangements across diverse matter types and practice areas.
• Experience with panel arrangement negotiations, convergence initiatives, or large-scale client portfolio pricing is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to present pricing strategies to senior attorneys and sophisticated clients, including legal operations and procurement teams.
• Strong grasp of law firm economics, encompassing rates, leverage, realization, and profitability.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to simplify complex concepts for varied audiences and create compelling proposals and client-facing documents.
• Excellent organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks, managing multiple complex matters concurrently, and adjusting to changing priorities under deadline pressure.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to safeguarding confidential client and financial information.
• Ability to concentrate and achieve concrete results, diligent in reaching associated goals.
• Skills to coordinate resources to assist others in meeting their objectives.
• Strong proficiency in legal financial and billing systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL or similar data query tools is preferred.
• Capacity to work with large, complex datasets and present findings effectively.
