Press Secretary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Act as a spokesperson, addressing media inquiries, and representing End Citizens United in interviews, press conferences, and public events.

• Develop clear, persuasive, and consistent messaging on matters related to campaign finance reform, voting rights protection, and the fight against corruption at both federal and state levels.

• Proactively pitch stories to media outlets and collaborate with reporters to obtain coverage for the organization’s campaigns, events, and significant policy issues.

• Compose press releases, op-eds, talking points, speeches, and other materials to advocate for the organization’s initiatives, campaigns, and legislative priorities.

• Establish and nurture relationships with journalists, reporters, bookers, and media outlets to secure coverage, promote stories, and enhance the organization’s visibility in the media.

• Plan and implement media campaigns to support major policy initiatives, electoral efforts, and organizational milestones, utilizing both traditional and digital media channels.

• Collaborate closely with the organization’s leadership to prepare for interviews, speeches, and public events.

• Work in conjunction with the digital and social media teams to amplify press coverage, engage supporters, and create shareable content that showcases the organization’s work across various platforms.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in media relations, communications, and public relations across multiple campaign cycles.

• On-the-record experience across several campaign cycles is essential.

• Exceptional writing skills, with the capability to create engaging press materials and articulate clear messaging.

• Comprehensive understanding of campaign finance reform, voting rights issues, and democracy reform.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
