This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead the creation and execution of the organization’s theory of change, strategy, and framework aimed at enhancing impact.
• Maintain the integrity and autonomy of Just Vision’s mission.
• Foster an organizational culture that aligns with core values, emphasizing rigor, collaboration, and accountability.
• Strategically adjust and align the organization in response to evolving circumstances in Israel-Palestine and the US, ensuring that these adaptations are well thought out and understood by both internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage an annual budget ranging from $2.5M to $3M and oversee a team of 24, which encompasses a blend of full-time and part-time staff, special project consultants, and the editorial and writing team at Local Call, co-directed with +972 Advancement of Citizen Journalism.
• Unite the leadership team around strategic objectives and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration.
• Develop infrastructure to support growth and ensure the sustainability of a budget exceeding $3M.
• Work in partnership with the Board of Directors to enhance effective and mission-driven governance and to promote Just Vision's mission and strategic objectives.
• Assist in the identification, recruitment, orientation, and integration of new Board members.
• Empower Board members to act as ambassadors for the organization.
• Guarantee that all of Just Vision’s media and creative outputs are independent, uphold the highest journalistic integrity, and are accompanied by strategic engagement plans to maximize their impact.
• Function as the Publisher of the Palestine Reporting Lab, Co-Publisher of Local Call, and Producer of Just Vision’s innovative documentaries. In each role, provide oversight, management, creative collaboration, an impact-driven approach, and necessary infrastructure, including legal and financial support, to enable our production and editorial teams to deliver exceptional work.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including key target audiences within Palestinian, Israeli, and American communities; journalists, editors, and media creators; allied nonprofit organizations and movement leaders; media, development, public engagement, operations, and finance personnel; the Board; and significant donors and foundations.
• Serve as the chief ambassador, strengthening stakeholder relationships across movements, media, and philanthropic sectors.
• Lead fundraising initiatives to cultivate a robust and diversified revenue stream exceeding $3M.
• Hire and supervise a new Development Director responsible for managing the development and execution of Just Vision’s fundraising strategy.
• Act as a primary fundraiser for Just Vision, maintaining key relationships with major donors and institutions.
• Keep Just Vision’s values and mission at the forefront of all fundraising activities, ensuring that no funding compromises the organization’s credibility or independence.
• Profound and nuanced understanding of Israel-Palestine, along with a long-standing engagement with these communities and stakeholders.
• Strategic awareness of the media landscape and the effectiveness of film and journalism as tools for social and narrative transformation. Familiarity with journalism and documentary film production is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision, inspire a diverse and motivated team, and adapt strategies and team structures in a rapidly changing environment.
• Commitment to addressing structural inequality, possessing a strong feminist political analysis, and understanding intersectionality in social movements and organizational practices. Ability to facilitate equitable and inclusive participation while fostering a supportive work atmosphere.
• Proven track record in successful change management, adept at navigating complex external and internal dynamics with grace, empathy, and a focus on achieving alignment around shared goals and values.
• Exceptional leadership and management capabilities, including direct oversight of leadership roles and cross-functional departments. Able to establish clear expectations and accountability while prioritizing staff care and well-being in sensitive and complex contexts.
• Outstanding judgment and strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate risks and opportunities while considering diverse stakeholder perspectives, all while staying aligned with core values.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, comfortable operating in multilingual and multicultural settings, enabling meaningful engagement with a diverse array of stakeholders, donors, and strategic partners. Ability to navigate intricate political and cultural landscapes with sensitivity and integrity.
• Proficient public speaker who communicates with clarity and integrity. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong fundraising skills, with a history of securing substantial funding ($100K+) from foundations, individual donors, and other sources. Experience in developing and executing fundraising strategies that have generated over $3M in revenue.
• This role may require significant travel in the first year, up to 25%, to build relationships with staff, board members, partners, and funders. As these relationships develop, travel is expected to decrease in subsequent years.
