This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and design conceptual utility-scale PV and BESS system layouts, including site layouts using PVcase, single-line diagrams, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and performance objectives.
• Analyze client data rooms, RFP requirements, and site limitations to establish actionable design criteria, pinpointing key risks, assumptions, and optimization opportunities early in the pursuit phase.
• Assess and refine various design scenarios to enhance cost, schedule, energy yield, and constructability, striking a balance between technical performance and commercial viability.
• Produce material takeoffs, select equipment, and provide technical inputs to facilitate precise and competitive EPC estimates.
• Collaborate across departments, including civil, structural, electrical, procurement, and construction teams.
• Interact with OEMs, subcontractors, and vendors to assist in technical evaluations and pricing.
• Create comprehensive Basis of Design (BOD) documentation for handover to detailed engineering.
• Clearly identify and communicate design intent, trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and value engineering recommendations to internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, codes, and best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• 3+ years of experience in solar EPC, development, or engineering firms.
• 2+ years of direct experience in the planning, design, and engineering of utility-scale PV and/or BESS systems.
• Familiarity with interconnection processes, site constraints, and permitting considerations.
• Understanding of construction techniques and cost factors in utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong commercial insight with the ability to balance technical and financial considerations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with SharePoint, PVcase, Pvsyst, and Procore is preferred.
• Work on large-scale, industry-leading renewable energy projects.
• Influence project strategy from the earliest phases.
