This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee and evaluate pre-award activities for a portfolio of Principal Investigators.
• Analyze funding opportunities and proposal solicitations to pinpoint components, compliance requirements, and deadlines.
• Prepare and submit research funding proposals, including federal, non-federal, and internal grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, and subawards.
• Set submission deadlines that adhere to Department and GCS policies and procedures.
• Communicate policies and procedures effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Create budgets and justifications that align with project requirements and federal regulations.
• Coordinate and review biosketches as well as facilities and resources documentation.
• Initiate electronic applications in web-based proposal submission platforms and upload necessary documents.
• Monitor and facilitate proposals through the workflow routing processes.
• Act as a liaison between Principal Investigators and sponsors, fostering strong relationships.
• Accurately and promptly prepare and submit documents.
• Build relationships with research administration officials at partner institutions.
• Collaborate with post-award managers to transition budgeted awards to finalized awards.
• Distribute award terms and engage in rebudgeting and resubmission efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of progressively responsible, relevant research administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in supporting scientists and engineers within both federal and non-federal research administration contexts.
• Knowledge and experience with a wide range of funding agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors.
• Proven experience in developing intricate budgets and justifications that comply with federal regulations.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities and projects.
• Capacity to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
• Strong focus on customer service and the ability to collaborate with diverse constituents.
• Demonstrated critical thinking capabilities.
• Proficiency in reading, analyzing, interpreting, and managing complex documents and agreements.
• Ability to handle confidential information, exercising discretion, sound judgment, and initiative.
• Familiarity with research administration methodologies, practices, and policies, including CFR, conflict of interest requirements, publication rights, export controls, indirect cost rates, and other intricate concepts.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERA systems (Kuali, Streamlyne, InfoEd, etc.), and ERP systems (Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.) on both PC and Mac platforms.
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with research administration officials at collaborating organizations.
• Proven interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
