PR & Social Media Intern, Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop Vulcury Venture Studio's media footprint within Kansas City and the Midwest.

• Engage with journalists to secure earned media coverage and cultivate press relationships.

• Lead outreach efforts for Trustbridge Design & Manufacturing.

• Assist with national campaigns across the portfolio.

• Identify journalists focusing on manufacturing, supply chain, AI, and startups.

• Craft targeted pitch emails and follow up with reporters.

• Compose press releases and media briefs.

• Manage the press contact database and monitor media coverage.

• Identify key manufacturing and industrial trade publications.

• Propose contributed articles and expert commentary.

• Monitor editorial calendars and deadlines.

• Keep track of Midwest and manufacturing sector awards and innovation lists.

• Prepare award submissions and maintain the submission pipeline.

• Transform earned media coverage and leadership insights into LinkedIn and X posts.

• Analyze social media performance and suggest improvements.

• Collaborate directly with company leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in the Kansas City area.

• Must be authorized to work in the US.

• Proven hands-on media relations experience with a track record of pitching journalists directly.

• At least one earned media placement that you have secured or contributed to.

• Excellent, persuasive, and well-organized writing skills.

• Availability for 15–20 hours per week over a 12-week period.

• Must be able to start immediately.

• Existing connections within Kansas City business or trade media (preferred).

• Familiarity with Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, or a PR CRM (preferred).

• Interest in manufacturing, AI, or venture building (preferred).

• Submit a pitch email sent to a journalist along with a link to the resulting coverage or a note on the outcome.
