Power Markets Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of commercial analytics for your assigned ISO market(s) — act as the internal expert on market strategy and pricing dynamics.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to pinpoint and prioritize performance enhancement opportunities on a per-ISO basis; convert market insights into actionable product and model recommendations.

• Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly market intelligence reports for internal stakeholders and external clients — including performance summaries, market condition analyses, and strategic insights.

• Develop internal tools and monitoring systems (e.g., risk assessments, real-time market monitors, congestion analysis).

• Work alongside our policy team to address regulatory and market design changes in your ISO(s).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in wholesale power markets, with practical exposure to market operations, energy trading, storage dispatch, or market analytics at an IPP, utility, trading company, ISO/RTO, or energy software firm.

• Extensive knowledge of at least one organized electricity market — MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, PJM — including market structure, bidding regulations, settlement processes, and storage-specific participation criteria.

• Proficient in handling large time series datasets and settlement data; expertise in Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools is highly preferred. Experience in building analytics tools from the ground up is advantageous.

• Skilled at translating intricate market dynamics into clear, data-supported narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
